UK: Andrew Bourne, a former chef at Claridge’s, has bought and refurbished the Alexandra Court Hotel in Congleton.

Bourne used a six-figure loan from HSBC for the project, which has included the addition of a new outdoor space, a sitting area and a refurbishment of the hotel’s 14 bedrooms.

He said: “I’ve admired Alexandra Court for a very long time, so was thrilled that the financial backing and guidance from HSBC UK has allowed us to acquire this impressive hotel and bring the location back to its best. We aim to provide affordable luxury accommodation for the area and create a unique boutique venue for family celebrations and business meetings. It’s a beautiful property, set against a stunning landscaped garden, and we look forward to welcoming guests for the next chapter of the Hotel’s story.”

John Paulson, relationship manager for South Cheshire and North Staffordshire, HSBC UK, said: “HSBC UK is committed to supporting the growth of local businesses in Greater Manchester and beyond, so we’re pleased to be backing the Alexandra Court Hotel through our dedicated lending fund.”
