Luxury Academy launches finishing school for hotel staff

UK: Specialist training provider Luxury Academy has launched The Hotel Finishing School, designed to enhance service and raise standards in upscale hotels.

The half-day programme is described as “a cross between the Swiss finishing school of the 19th century and a charm school”. Topics covered include memorable first impressions, grooming and personal presentation, deportment and demeanour, and use of small talk and language when interacting with guests.

Founder Paul Russell said: “The luxury hotel market is going through an exciting metamorphosis, which presents thrilling challenges for those of us working within it.  At its heart, the consumer is rapidly evolving and today’s guest has emerged with a clear view of what they expect from service providers positioned in this market. The Hotel Finishing School helps independent four and five star hotels meet these expectations and create exceptional guest experiences.”

The Luxury Academy was founded in December 2012 “to meet the rapidly increasing need for a dedicated, affordable training resource to specifically support independently owned four and five star hotels”. It offers advice and training in all areas of hospitality; from restaurant and banqueting operations and service, through to leadership development and sales and events training.
It is a training partner to the ten out of ten management development programme, which has brought together ten of the most luxurious hotels outside of London, and has also developed specialist courses for Stapleford Park, The Vineyard at Stockcross and Donnington Valley Hotel.
