UK: Molton Brown has announced several new initiatives to make its products 100 per cent vegan, recyclable and reusable.
Molton Brown products have been made in England since 1971, and environmental awareness has always been part of the brand’s roots.
To eliminate waste, the outer packaging of the brand’s luxury hotel accessories has been fully recyclable since February 2020. By the end of the year, its 300ml bath, body and hand collection bottles will be manufactured in 50 per cent recycled PET.
The company’s dispensing programme, created from polished chrome, includes single, double and triple dispensers, and can be replenished with five litre refills.
100ml porcelain decanters, topped with environmentally-conscious wood stoppers, can also be refilled.
Additionally, Molton Brown is working on a new luxury dispenser that will completely eradicate single-use plastic. The model will launch later in the year.
CEO Mark Johnson said: “Driven by our pioneering legacy, our mission is to rewrite the rules of luxury; putting uncompromising care at the heart of everything we do – be it with our people, our products or our places. With these new initiatives, we are leveraging the focus on sustainability which already exists within both the brand’s DNA and our working practices to set Molton Brown apart as a pioneer in luxury sustainable lifestyles.’’
Molton Brown became one of the first in the UK to never test on animals, and has been certified cruelty free since 2012. Currently 100 per cent vegetarian, the brand will be 100 per cent vegan by 2022.
Its factory in Elsenham has been powered by 100 per cent renewable electricity since 2016, while 97 per cent of its waste is recycled. The company aims to reach 100 per cent by 2025.
