16 new additions to Preferred Hotels & Resorts portfolio

US: Between July and September 2019, 16 new hotels joined Preferred Hotels’ global portfolio.

Preferred Hotels & Resorts is an independent hotel brand, and represents more than 750 hotels, resorts and residences across 85 countries.

Highlights of its new additions include:

Hotel Effie Sandestin (Florida, US)

Opening in June 2020, the new luxury hotel is set within the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort on Florida’s Emerald Coast. It will comprise 250 rooms and 19 suites with bay and golf course views. Guests will have access to seven miles of beaches, four championship golf courses, 15 world-class tennis courts, and a 123-slip marina. Celebrity chef, James Board, and award-winner Hugh Acheson, will create the restaurant, café, and pool bar menus.

ESTUDIO Playa Mujeres (Cancun, Mexico)

Home to 164 contemporary suites, this newly opened property features local Mexican art and views across the Caribbean Sea. Amenities include five restaurants, a three-storey spa and wellness centre, an 18-hole golf course, and a kids’ club for children of all ages. An on-property Art Walk with regular exhibitions of local artists is also available for guests.

Northcote (Lancashire, UK)

An English country retreat home featuring 26 guest rooms, the resort features a Michelin-starred restaurant headed by executive chef, Lisa Goodwin-Allen. Guests of the hotel can take part in gin-making activities, cheese tasting, and on-property cooking classes. This year, the hotel will host its 20th Obsession festival, welcoming 24 international master chefs to take over the kitchen.

Great Southern Killarney (Killarney, Ireland)

Housed in a 19th century building and surrounded by six acres of garden, the hotel has welcomed celebrity visitors such as Princess Grace of Monaco, Charlie Chapin, and Jackie Kennedy. Traditional Victorian features such as marble sinks, freestanding baths and four-poster beds can be found within the property.

President Hotel (Cape Town, South Africa)

With 349 guestrooms and apartments, the property is now Preferred Hotels’ largest hotel in Africa. Located in the Bantry Bay neighbourhood, it sits between the Lion’s Head mountain range and the V&A waterfront district. Guests of the hotel can use its outdoor infinity swimming pool, a gym and spa, rooftop drinks on the terrace, as well as on-property restaurants.

The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai(Shanghai, China)

Following its original opening in 1933, some of the hotel’s grand features have been retained in its neo-classical architecture such as the stained-glass skylight in the lobby. Other features include a SPA centre that offers healing and restorative treatments, and three restaurants and bars serving local and international cuisines. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city, closed to major cultural sites such as Nanjing shopping street, People’s Park, and the Shanghai Museum.
