US: Italian luxury brand Bulgari Hotels & Resorts has announced plans for a property in Miami Beach, marking the 11th in the collection and the first in the States.
The site, located at 100 21st street in South Beach, used to be the Seagull Hotel Miami Beach. Preliminary plans for the redevelopment describe a nine-story hotel with 110 rooms.
It will be designed by architectural firm Antonia Citterio Patricia Viel, and will feature an outdoor swimming pool, a spa and fitness centre, and restaurant and bar from Michelin-star chef Niko Romito.
Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari, said: “We are convinced that the Bulgari Hotel Miami Beach, to be opened in 2024, will represent… a unique ultra-luxury experience in the American upscale hotel market.”
Silvio Ursini, Bulgari executive vice president, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity, it will allow most rooms to have sea views which is very rare. This is a major plus for us.”
In 2001, Bulgari – a fashion brand known for its jewellery, watches and accessories – launched a joint venture with Marriott International, forming Bulgari Hotels & Resorts. The brand has since opened hotels in Dubai, Beijing, London, Bali, with upcoming properties in Paris and Rome.
