Located within a 620-acre nature reserve, The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai has been constructed with minimal environmental impact – less than 10 per cent of the reserve. Materials used throughout the hotel include timber, limestone, and bamboo.
The hotel’s interiors have been overseen by Ian Schrager Company in collaboration with architecture and design firm Rockwell Group, with architecture by Edmonds International.
It features 182 guest rooms including 30 suites, a Sky Rooftop Villa with infinity pool, five food and beverage venues, a spa and a ballroom.
The hotel’s main restaurant KI’IS led by chef Francisco Ruano will offer a Mexican tasting menu, whereas beach club restaurant SO’OL will serve Mediterranean seafood dishes with a Mexican influence. An all-day dining experience will be provided at Kitchen at EDITION, and bars are located in the lobby and by the pool.
The spa offers six indoor-outdoor treatment rooms, a bamboo yoga dome, a hydrotherapy pools, a private outdoor pool, a Turkish hammam and an infrared capsule room. Brand partners include 111 Skin, Ayuna Skincare and Mowellens.
Over in Japan, the second EDITION property in Tokyo is located in Ginza. The 14-storey boutique hotel offers 86 rooms and suites, a lobby bar and mezzanine-level Punch Room, and two F&B venues. Interiors are by Ian Schrager Company in partnership with Kengo Kuma.
Sophie at EDITION is the hotel’s main brasserie restaurant serving a Japanese-inspired menu, while up on the roof is a natural wine bar.
Both hotels in Japan and the Caribbean are currently open in preview with a scheduled official launch date in early 2024. With the opening of both hotels, EDITION will operate 19 properties worldwide.
