UK: December will see the official takeover and launch of the new boutique hotel, bar and terrace under the new branding of “Twelve Picardy Place”.

The directors of Steak have taken over the No.12 building and will relaunch the 10-bedroom luxury boutique hotel next month, creating 18 new jobs.

Michele Civiera, director of the hotel’s Steak restaurant and the Edinburgh New Town Company, said: “Following the opening of our highly successful restaurant Steak Edinburgh on Picardy Place, we are delighted to announce the takeover of No.12 Picardy Place which heralds a new and exciting chapter for our new brand Twelve Picardy Place with a development of 10 luxury hotel rooms, a new hotel bar, wine vault and terrace. This is a very exciting time for us indeed and we look forward to the official launch in December.”

HK Surveying & Design were appointed by Twelve Picardy Place to refurbish the unused upper floors of the townhouse into “design-led individually styled bedrooms and suites”. HK Surveying & Design describes the unutilised space deigned from shell as “one of the most technically cutting edge and leading design boutique hotel accommodation in Scotland”.

Chef Mark Greenaway, who previously ran his restaurant at No 12 Picardy Place is moving to as yet unnamed premises elsewhere in the city. He said: “My new premises are ideal for the growth of my restaurant; with 60 covers it’s almost double the size.  November is maybe not the best month to move, but it’s a great time to capitalise on the upcoming Christmas trade. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all my customers past, present and future for their continued and ongoing support.”
