Ovolo announces latest addition in Melbourne

AUS: Ovolo Group will launch its upcoming property, the 123-room Ovolo South Yarra, in Melbourne in early 2021.

Located at the intersection of Toorak Road and Chapel Street, the hotel is described to blend retro chic and pop-art, taking design cues from disco and rock music.

For instance, all four Rockstar suites are named after famous artists such as ACDC, and feature custom graphic wallpapers and bespoke joinery pieces with patterned furnishings.

All rooms embody Ovolo’s ‘effortless living’ philosophy, experienced through seamless technology integration.

Director and designer of Luchetti Krelle, Rachel Luchetti, said the property is a mix of mod and retrofuturism. She explained: “Retrofuturism explores the themes of tension between past and future and the nostalgia of those eras is appropriated with integrated modern art installations and collaborations with local and international artists.”

The hotel’s kitchen and bar concept will serve locally sourced produce and will encourage ethical eating. Seasonal cocktails and wines sourced from across Australia will also feature.

Founder and CEO of Ovolo Group, Girish Jhunjhnuwala, commented: “Ovolo South Yarra will set the scene for an extraordinary hotel experience embodying Ovolo’s philosophy of connecting with its customers emotionally and will complement the local cultural scene through its art, design and unique restaurant concept. We are excited to see this hotel come to life alongside our other development in Bali, Mamaka By Ovolo.”

Ovolo Group was founded by Jhunjhnuwala and entered the market in 2002. The group is an independent owner operated hospitality firm, with four hotels and three restaurants in Hong Kong, as well as seven hotels and five restaurants across Australia.
