Austria: The five-star hotel Schloss Pichlarn in the Austrian Alps has been acquired by hotelier Georg Imlauer through his hotel group, IMLAUER Hotel & Restaurant GmbH.
The German Schörghuber Group owned the site for 13 years. It is located in the holiday region of Ennstal in Styria, offering 96 rooms and suites.
It features a wellness and spa area with indoor and outdoor tennis courts, an underground car park, a helicopter landing pad, and the hotel’s own 18-hole golf course.
The purchase by Imlauer marks the first leisure hotel within his portfolio, which currently includes city hotels and restaurants in Salzburg and Vienna. The IMLAUER company will take over the hotel with the existing operating company and around 100 employees.
Christie & Co completed the sale. Lukas Hochedlinger, managing director, said: “We are very pleased to have found an experienced hotelier in Mr. Imlauer, who knows the Austrian hotel market and appreciates the 1000-years history of the castle as well as its unique location. The leisure segment has been hit less hard by the coronavirus pandemic than city hotels, making this a logical step for Mr. Imlauer. He is expanding his hotel portfolio and thus showing diversity in the crisis.”
