Rosewood’s Pentahotels opens in Moscow ‘Book House’

Russia: Rosewood Hotel Group has opened a Moscow property under its Pentahotels brand.

Pentahotel Moscow, Arbat is in one of four “Book Houses” – buildings designed to resemble an open book – on Novy Arbat Avenue, near Arbatskaya metro station.

The 26-storey, mixed-use building has 228 hotel rooms, with the hotel occupying the lower 11 floors. The upper floors contain serviced apartments for rent and apartment suites for permanent residents.

The hotel also contains a “living room-style” lounge with a free pool table, a 24-hour gym and two meeting rooms from 61 to 82 sqm.

Food and drink options include a buffet breakfast room, bar, and local meals served in the lounge.

Moscow previously had a Penta hotel, when the brand was owned by a group of European airlines, but it closed in the late 1990s. Rosewood Hotel Group, formerly New World Hospitality, acquired Pentahotels in 2006.

The brand has six UK properties, ten in Germany, seven more in Europe and five in China.

Eugène Staal, president of Penta Hotels Worldwide, said: “Pentahotel Moscow, Arbat is a great example of our neighbourhood lifestyle hotel concept, a new category of hospitality in Russia. Each Pentahotel is a combination of the cultural characteristics of the country it is in with the unique attributes of its location. Here in Moscow, travellers are close to popular attractions, eateries and experiences that bridge tourism and living. We want our guests to feel as if they are part of the neighbourhood, exploring, shopping and interacting with local residents and the community, whether their stay is for a few nights or a few months.”
