Italy: By the end of 2023, The Student Hotel (TSH) is expected to add the TSH San Lorenzo to its Italian portfolio, bringing the group’s investment in the region to over €450 million.
The new hotel will be located in the San Lorenzo district of Rome. It involves the development of 21,000 square metres of hybrid facilities, comprising 444 rooms for students and hotel guests as well as spaces for coworking, meetings and events.
Included in the project are green areas and areas dedicated to sports, events and recreational activities which will also be accessible to the public.
Charlie MacGregor, CEO and founder of The Student Hotel, said: “We are very excited to have signed this deal and cannot wait to open our doors in what is perhaps the most famous city in the world, Rome. We started our adventure in Italy with our first hotel in Florence in 2018 and last October we successfully opened TSH Bologna despite difficult Covid times. Needless to say, with three more hotels in the pipeline, we love Italy! We look forward to bring our philosophy of community to Rome and to make a positive impact to the neighbourhood of San Lorenzo.”
Edoardo Volpi, head of investments in Italy at The Student Hotel, added: “This investment shows our confidence on the strong positive outlook of the Italian market and of such an important city as Rome, despite the difficult moment we are currently living in. Our aim is to bring our positive contribution to the already undergoing urban and cultural regeneration process and become an integral part of the community.”
Involved in the project is architect Fantoni and design team Engeko, with Italsocotec overseeing project management. DLA Piper, Giuseppe Ciaglia and Dentons will advise on legal services.
