Wisconsin’s Door County to welcome first new hotel in two decades

US: The Dörr Hotel, located in the village of Sister Bar, features 47 rooms and suites and is set to open its doors in May 2021.

The four-storey building will feature Nordic-inspired interiors with an open lobby bar and fireplace offering small dining plates, as well as a large outdoor courtyard with fire pit and lawn games.

Guest rooms will offer a 50” smart TV, bluetooth speakers, Keurig coffee machines, glass front refrigerators and bath robes. A limited number of bicycles, tennis and pickle ball equipment, snowshoes, walking poles and beach chairs are available for complimentary use.

Working in partnership with neighbouring restaurant CHOP, The Dörr can offer meeting space for up to 100 people.

A dedicated guest experience team will also serve as area ambassadors, designing personalised tours year-round. Door County is home to 298 miles of shoreline, 11 light houses and five State Parks, along with over 100 galleries and art studios and two theatre companies.

The hotel’s principal owner, Christopher Schmeltz, said: “In designing the hotel, we were continually inspired by the area’s heritage, natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere. We set out to create a modern hotel with a warm and inviting ambiance that celebrates Door County.”

The Dörr is now taking reservations, with further information about the hotel available here.
