YOTEL announces London opening

YOTEL London Shoreditch

UK: The former East London Hotel will be re-branded as a YOTEL property with a scheduled opening for April 2022.

Comprising 161 rooms in various sizes, YOTEL London Shoreditch will receive a light refurbishment in line with brand’s design and technology features. Amenities include a bar, restaurant and co-working space.

The hotel marks the group’s fifth city centre hotel in the UK, the fourth franchise property, the second UK hotel conversion and the nineteenth in operation globally.

It is owned by Crestline Investors Inc and Avelios Investors, and will be managed by Michels & Taylor.

Hubert Viriot, CEO at YOTEL, said: “Being able to secure two franchise deals in under three months is testament to the growing strength of the YOTEL brand and its increased relevance in delivering low-touch high-tech hospitality experiences. We’re delighted to be working with institutional partners Crestline and Avelios, which once again showcases YOTEL’s continued sophistication in working with established hotel owners and investors.

“As with YOTEL Manchester, YOTEL London Shoreditch contributes to the more than 1,200 keys in our UK portfolio and is testament to the continuation of our hotel conversion strategy as well as our expansion plans in the UK and Europe whether through franchise or hotel management agreements. We are looking forward to emulating this strategy in other cities around the world,” he added.

Peter Hales, managing director of Michels & Taylor Hotel Management, said: “We are delighted to be running our first hotel under the YOTEL brand. The innovation and quality of the brand will add significant value to the hotel’s operation, and we look forward to working closely with the team in the coming years.”

Upcoming openings for YOTEL include locations in Miami this spring, followed by Genenva later in the year.
