Germany: IHG has announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Berlin City – East Side, its third in the city.
The new-build hotel will be owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and will operate under a franchise agreement with multiple development agreement (MDA) partner Tristar Hotel Group. It will be the eighth development under IHG’s MDA agreement with Tristar.
Opening in autumn 2017, the hotel will feature 119 rooms, a gym, a restaurant and a rooftop bar with an outdoor terrace, and is within walking distance of Berlin’s Warschauer Strasse and Ostbahnhof train stations.
René Schappner, director of development, Germany, IHG said: “The signing of this hotel emphasises IHG’s position as a clear market leader in the boutique hotel segment. It’s fantastic to be expanding our Hotel Indigo brand in Berlin; a city with numerous vibrant and distinct neighbourhoods which make perfect hosts for this brand. We’re also delighted to be signing our eighth deal as part of a multiple development agreement with Tristar and look forward, as always, to working with them on this exciting project.”
Matthias Koerber, CEO of Tristar Hotel & Management said: “We look forward to bringing our established operational excellence – already being demonstrated at the nearby Holiday Inn® Berlin City – East Side to the new Hotel Indigo Berlin City – East Side. Hotel Indigo is the ideal brand for the Mercedes Platz project.”
