Boston East India Hotels buys historic Maine Inn

US: Boston East India Hotels has acquired the Captain Daniel Stone Inn in Brunswick, Maine.

The property has 30 rooms attached to a 19th century federal-style building that underwent a $2.5 million renovation in 2011.

Boston East India Hotels will rebrand the Captain Daniel Stone Inn as part of its Troca Hotels collection of global curated lifestyle hotels. The hotel will undergo a renovation of rooms, and food and beverage and public spaces to be completed by March 2014.

As part of its rebranding, the company has ended the property’s affiliation with the Ascend Collection of boutique hotels. Once rebranded, the hotel will join the Troca Hotels collection, which places an emphasis on curated, lifestyle hotels and signature restaurants with live entertainment.

Abhijit Das, president and CEO of Boston East India Hotels, said: “The Captain Daniel Stone Inn offers an excellent opportunity to reposition a boutique hotel with tremendous upside. Conversion to the Troca Hotels brand and its link to international curated lifestyle hotel distribution and an emphasis on creating an iconic food, beverage and entertainment destination are projected to significantly enhance the overall performance of the property.”

The Captain Daniel Stone Inn is based on a historic building that was erected in 1809. Sitting on nearly two acres of land, the three-storey hotel features 26 guest rooms, four suites and views of the nearby Androscoggin River.
