US: Chinese hotel operator Leader Group has opened the Leader Hotel in Lower Pacific Heights, San Francisco.
Leader Group paid US$7 million for the four-storey Victorian-style Payne Mansion, and spent another $4 million on a renovation designed by Oakland-based architects Dinar & Associates.
The property, in Lower Pacific Heights, survived the 1906 San Francisco Fire. It was last registered as a private clubhouse for events.
The renovation includes the construction of a 10-suite 8,200-square-foot hotel and 9,500-square-foot restaurant.
“The 10 luxury suites are designed to meet the unique needs of high-end Chinese business travelers to San Francisco,” said Zhou Wenyu, president of the Leader Group, who flew in from China to be at the hotel’s grand opening last week.
