Singapore: Como Hotels and Resorts is set to open resorts in the US, Thailand and the Maldives in the next 12 months.
After eight years without a major development, the boutique hotel operator will increase its portfolio from nine to 12 with the opening of Metropolitan by Como Miami Beach, Maalifushi by Como in the Maldives and Point Yamu by Como in Phuket.Â
The 74-room Miami Beach property marks Como’s first US venture. It is located in the art deco district and is set to open in December. The Maalafushi property in the Maldives features overwater bungalow accommodation with 66 rooms, and will open in October. Point Yamu by Como will include 106 rooms with 27 private villas and is due to open in late November.
Como Hotels regional director of sales for Australia, Elliott Miller, said the company’s growth was “totally organic” and said that new properties were decided on when the right opportunities arose: “It has to be the right price, at the right time, with the right bar and spa, and in the right setting.”
