China: Marriott’s Edition brand is to open its first hotel in China, in the city of Sanya.
The Sanya Edition, which will open next month, is set within 50 acres of landscaped tropical greenery, and features a private beach, climbing wall, spa and saltwater pool. It comprises 512 rooms, including 46 suites, and an additional 17 hotel villas in a terraced hillside, each one with a private pool and private outdoor space.
The resort is divided “into different specialised zones that overlap with each other but simultaneously retain their own unique identities. The zones include water, fun, sports, kids, adult, family, eating, nightlife, entertainment, sensory and relaxation”.
Ian Schrager, Edition brand developer, said: “The Sanya Edition was conceived for the China of today and the China of tomorrow. The resort is a unique sophisticated vision and embodiment of a cosmopolitan China for all the world to see.”
Sanya is located at the southern end of Hainan Island.
