South Africa: Lifestyle hospitality group Ennismore has signed a hotel management contract with Kasada, an independent real estate private equity platform, for Mama Shelter Cape Town.
In December 2023, property company Ingenuity and Kasada agreed to jointly develop a mixed-use site including hotels, restaurants, and retail based in the Western Cape. Mama Shelter Cape Town will form part of the project, housed in the City Park building – once home to the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital.
It will feature 127 guestrooms across three room categories and 68 branded residences, including 36 studios, 23 one-bedroom, five two-bedroom, three three-bedroom, and one four-bedroom.
Amenities include meeting rooms, a coworking space, a gym, and an all-day dining restaurant on the rooftop, along with a pool and pool deck.
The hotel will also introduce a new concept for the brand: Mama Play, an arcade space with bowling, karaoke, F&B and event spaces.
Ennismore will manage an additional, separate restaurant on the ground floor on Bree Street under one of its F&B brands.

Mama Shelter Nice will open in June 2024, with future projects set to open in Dubai, Casablanca and Downtown LA.
