US: Marriott International has acquired property in West Hollywood that is scheduled to become an Edition lifestyle hotel.
The Sunset Strip plot was purchased for $31.5 million, and was the site for the now defunct Sunset-Doheny Hotel, a project which didn’t start construction.
The 11-storey, 190-room Edition will include restaurants, a nightclub and a rooftop pool and bar, according to developer Sonnenblick-Eichler Co.
Marriott and its partner in the Edition brand Ian Schrager, currently have one Edition hotel, a 74-room property in Istanbul.
Five more are set to open by 2015, including properties in New York, London, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok and Miami.
