UK: Millennium Hotels and Resorts has bought the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool.

The Beatles-themed 110-room hotel was put on the market by Merseyside businessman Tony Criss with a reported asking price of £11 million in March. Criss developed the property after he acquired the building’s lease in 2006 and it opened its doors in 2008. It features exclusive artwork by world-renowned Beatles artists such as Klaus Voorman and Sir Peter Blake, and is home to Blakes restaurant and the exclusive Bar Four.

Situated on North John Street in Liverpool’s Cavern Quarter, Hard Days Night Hotel becomes Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ (MHR) 24th property within the UK and Europe.
Aloysius Lee, CEO of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, said: “Liverpool is a leading tourist destination that continues to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually on a mass global scale. Having been crowned Capital of Culture in 2008, the city is twinned culturally and economically with Shanghai and is home to the world famous Liverpool Football Club. The city continues to maintain its prominent stance by investing in an array of forward-thinking regeneration projects, while firmly retaining its Beatles legacy.”

“Hard Days Night Hotel offers a Beatles experience like no-other and we are confident that our guests, particularly from countries including China, USA, Canada and Europe, will be excited by the choice of this latest acquisition. Furthermore, the ‘Fab Four’ and Liverpool are very popular to both the North American and Asian markets. We are thrilled to welcome Hard Days Night Hotel and more than 150 team members into the MHR global family,” he added.

Hard Days Night Hotel general manager Mike Dewey said: “We are delighted that Millennium Hotels and Resorts have acquired the hotel, as their ethos and passion for genuine hospitality fits hand in hand with what we have successfully delivered during the past seven years; coupled with the benefits that being part of a global family now affords our staff an exciting career progression with worldwide opportunities. Hard Days Night Hotel is a first class hotel that continues to exceed guests’ expectations and we look forward to widening our global reputation by maximising the distribution channels effectively run by MHR and taking the property to the next level.”
