UK: Flat Cap Hotels has obtained significant financial backing to support the growth of the company.

The hotel group was founded by brothers Oliver and Dominic Heywood in 2015, when they successfully launched The Vicarage Freehouse & Rooms. Earlier this year, the group acquired the former Crown Court in Knutsford. The derelict site is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment, with phase 1 due to open before Christmas this year.

The brothers were financing the project through crowdfunding, but an anonymous private investor with a background in hospitality has stepped in to help Flat Cap Hotels reach its goal of five properties under operation by 2019.

Oliver Heywood said: “Dominic and I are overwhelmed by the support we’ve received in our first year at The Vicarage, and thrilled by the opportunities this investment opens up to Flat Cap Hotels.”

The Courthouse will eventually feature a 150 cover restaurant and bar, and a converted court room with a 550 guest capacity for conferences, weddings, exhibitions and events. Phase 2 in 2017 will see the the construction of up to 60 bedrooms. The project will support up to 60 local jobs.
