Qatar: Iconic retail brand Harrods is to move into hotel management, with properties planned in London, New York, Paris, Kuala Lumpur and Sardinia.
As part of a long-term strategy to develop the Harrods brand, owner Qatar Holding LLC plans to open Harrods hotels “at sites in key cities”. Preference will be given to construct on sites already owned by Qatar Holding or its affiliates, for example at Chelsea Barracks in London or Costa Smeralda in Sardinia, the company added.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed in Malaysia between Qatar Holding and Jerantas Sdn Bhd, to study the potential development of a Harrods Hotel in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.
