South Africa: Tour operator ReturnAfrica has bought the Welgelegen boutique hotel in central Cape Town.
The property sits below Table Mountain at the end of a cul-de-sac and offers 13 en-suite rooms, a dining area, lounge, swimming pool, and courtyard connecting two Victorian-era homes.
ReturnAfrica CEO PJ Massyn said that there would be no changes to the running, staffing and management at the property. “We are excited about this new venture. The addition to our portfolio will allow us to offer our guests, whether local or international, the experience of both Kruger and Cape Town. We will be continuing long-time owner Fiona’s ethos of personal attention, home comfort and understated style that has become synonymous with the name Welgelegen. With products in northern Kruger and now Cape Town, RETURNAfrica is growing. Our journey started two years ago when we launched our unlike-any-other Pafuri Walking Trails. Soon after we opened Baobab Hill Bush House, a renovation of the old Pafuri section rangers homestead followed by Pafuri Camp, our flagship on the banks of the Luvuvhu River. We have now acquired Welgelegen that, like Pafuri, embodies the very best that its world-renowned destination has to offer.”
