US: The 182-room Rally Hotel in Downtown Denver has officially opened its doors, marking the first of three new openings for Sage Hospitality Group in 2021.
The hotel features several food and beverage venues, including The Rally Bar and The Original, as well as a rooftop pool and deck and 21,000 square feet of flexible event space.
It forms part of the McGregor Square development, led by Dick Monfort along with his partners. The project features restaurants, retail and a circular plaza with a 110-foot LED screen that will stream live sporting events and other entertainment.
Each of Sage’s four companies – Sage Studio, Sage Hotel Management, Sage Restaurant Concepts and Sage Investments – played a role in developing the property.
“It’s incredibly energising to see this development finally come to life, not only because it is the kind of project where Sage truly shines, but because we feel that these openings mark the start of better days ahead for the hospitality industry,” said Walter Isenberg, president and CEO of Sage Hospitality Group. “At every level of our organisation, the Sage team has worked tirelessly to open the doors of the hotel and the food and beverage outlets, and is now maintaining that energy to bring the guest experience to life. The Rally Hotel, The Original and The Rally Bar are all a testament to the true passion our people have for the hospitality business.”
Sage Studio launched in early 2020 and is the group’s creative concept team. The interiors were led by ICRAVE with architecture from Stantec. The hotel’s art collection was curated by NINE dot ARTS and the its messaging platform developed by Kate Davis Brand Consulting. Wunder Werkz helped with the visual identity and graphic design of the platform.
Sage Studio executive vice president, Jessica Werner, said: “With this project, the brand identity is rooted in playfulness and a celebration of Americana, our national pastime – baseball – and the Colorado lifestyle. Those elements come through in everything from the interior design, staff uniforms and art collection to the menus, mini-bars and visual identities, and even to the brand name itself, which derives from the age-old baseball tradition of the rally cap. Every element and every moment is intentional.”
Sage Hotel Management COO, Daniel del Olmo, added: “Our team thrives when operating hotels that focus on creating a truly unique guest experience, and The Rally Hotel is exactly that. An incredible amount of work went into bringing this hotel and its outlets to life. Now begins the undertaking of operating this stunning asset in such a way that not only delivers an exceptional guest experience but exceeds our partner’s business goals and expectations. We have worked diligently, and will continue to do so, to ensure that this hotel opens strong and continues to own the upswing as the economy recovers and travellers return to Denver.”
The openings of The Original and The Rally Bar join Sage Restaurant Concepts’ growing portfolio of 31 restaurants and bars in 11 states. The group will also oversee the operational of several other F&B outlets at McGregor Square.
While the project does not involve a capital investment from Sage, chief investment officer Jason Altberger and his team were involved in the development of the property from the start, ensuring it was delivered on budget and on time.
Other scheduled openings for Sage Hospitality Group include Catbird in Denver.
