UK: Hotel and serviced apartment developer Signature Living is converting a former club and recording studio on Mathew Street in to a hotel.
Plans for the project also include a restaurant, members only bar and nightclub. The hotel will open on the 29th March 2013 and the launch weekend has already sold out.
The 1884 building was originally used as a tea warehouse but later converted for use as a print works. It was also used as a recording studio for the band OMD in the early 1980s.
Signature Living launched in 2008 with just one apartment in Liverpool city centre director. It now has two successful serviced apartment developments, and when the hotel opens, will have more than 300 beds in the city.
Director Katie Kenwright said: “Our apartments on Victoria Street and Bold Street have captured the imagination of visitors to the city looking for somewhere new and unique to stay. They’ve been extremely successful but now we’re upping our game and expanding to create a themed hotel including a restaurant, members only bar and nightclub.”
“The themed rooms bring something completely new to Liverpool and guests will be able to stay in a James Bond, The Hangover or Sex and the City room to name but a few. Exclusivity is the order of the day where our Mathew Street project is concerned. We will tastefully transform a building which has been in desperate need of restoration for quite some time and our plans will help breathe new life into one of Liverpool’s main tourist areas as well as providing a boost to the local economy,” said Kenwright.
