The Betsy South Beach wins BLLA prize

US: Miami’s The Betsy has been named Boutique Hotel of the Year
by the Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association (BLLA).

The Betsy’s chairman Jonathan Plutzik as was also named Hotelier of the Year by the BLLA. The hotel was described as carrying “an authentic elegance that goes deeper than the physical design”.

Since reopening in 2009, The Betsy has gone “beyond the traditional construct of a hotel, believing that public spaces can be more than waiting areas. The Betsy has been transformed as a gathering place for people to engage about things that matter through leveraging arts and cultural programs with philanthropic initiatives to invite social networking in. From hosting art exhibitions to lobby concerts, and from book signings to poetry readings, the hotel has cultivated these on-going events to enhance the guest experience and to nurture the local community,” said the BLLA.

General manager Jeff Lehman said: “Against a backdrop of attention to detail, luxury and fine service, we all embrace the higher goal of important work in the local community, philanthropic endeavors, and a devotion to culture, the arts and education.”
