UK: Loh Lik Peng’s Unlisted Collection has bought the St John Hotel, which will be its second London property alongside The Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green.
The Unlisted Collection has acquired the assets of St John Chinatown, which operates the St John Hotel, Restaurant and Bar, off Leicester Square. The property was opened and operated by chef Fergus Henderson and his business partner Trevor Gulliver, but it went into administration in October 2012.
The restaurant will continue to operate under the St John banner until it honours all existing bookings, then it will change identity.
The Unlisted Collection, owned by Singaporean hotelier Loh Lik Peng, said it “looks forward to continuing the brilliant work by chef Ferguson Henderson and business partner Trevor Gulliver. Toward the end of the first quarter, we’re looking at the relaunch of the hotel and the restaurant.”
“Our hotels are set within sensitively restored heritage listed buildings that are re-adapted into radical, cutting edge lifestyle concepts that culminate into an unforgettable experience for our guests. Henderson’s vision mirrored ours; and the new addition to the collection is welcomed,” it added.
The Unlisted Group operates six boutique hotels and six restaurants in London, Shanghai and Singapore.
