Versace’s former home – now a boutique hotel – up for sale

US: Casa Casuarina, the fashion designer Gianni Versace’s Miami mansion, is on the market for $125 million.

The 23,400-square foot property has ten bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, and was built in the 1930s by architect Alden Freemanbut.

After the fashion designer was murdered at the lavish property, it was sold for $20 million to Peter Loftin, a telecom magnate, who eventually converted it into a boutique hotel called Villa by Barton G.

“Every room is a work of art,” said Jill Eber of brokers Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate said: “If the person buying it is not already a celebrity it gives them instant celebrity status – if they want it.”

“We’re already getting a lot of people responding to the listing,” said Jill Hertzberg, also of Coldwell Banker. “It’s an internationally recognized name, and it’s on Miami Beach. It will appeal to a lot of people.”
