US: Starwood’s W brand has announced a charity partnership with an organisation dedicated to bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries.
Starwood will bring charity: water’s Waterwalk fundraising events to various W properties around the US, and will also host events throughout 2013 that will raise money and awareness for charity: water’s efforts in 20 developing countries around the world.
During 2013, the Waterwalk events will take place at W Boston, W Chicago – Lakeshore, W Los Angeles – Westwood, W New Orleans – French Quarter, W New York, W San Francisco, W Scottsdale and W South Beach.
The Waterwalk is an interactive exhibition where guests take off their shoes and carry two 40-lb (18-kg) yellow Jerry cans a fraction of the distance in which millions of women and children in developing countries must walk in order to collect water.
