The 18th century coaching inn has been owned and operated by Anthony Mears and his wife Jane since 2009. Under their ownership, the Victorian property underwent extensive refurbishment.

Founded in 1875, Wadworth is a Wiltshire-based brewer and pub operator operating more than 240 pubs. Wadworth acquired Beckford Inn for an undisclosed sum in excess of the property’s £1 million guide price.

Nicholas Calfe, director at Christie + Co‘s Bristol office, said: “We are delighted to have sold Beckford Inn on behalf of Anthony and Jane, and wish them the very best for their future endeavours. The property is an excellent addition to Wadworth’s impressive portfolio and we are delighted to have played a part in their continued expansion.”

There will be a session on adding the boutique hotel touch to pubs with rooms at the Boutique and Lifestyle Hotel Summit in London this week.
