UK: Hotelier David Levin has sold The Capital and The Levin, the boutique hotels he founded in London’s Knightsbridge.

The Capital and The Levin will become the first London properties in the Warwick Hotels and Resorts portfolio.

Levin will become consultant to Richard Chiu, president and CEO of Warwick Hotels and Resorts, while his daughter Kate Levin will continue as general manager of the hotels.

David Levin said: “It was a difficult decision to sell, but Warwick Hotels and Resorts is the right company at the right time in this highly competitive London market. I see this as only positive for all concerned.”

Chiu founded Warwick Hotels and Resorts in 1980, with the purchase of Warwick New York. The group now comprises 55 hotels and resorts with more than 9,000 rooms worldwide.

Chiu said:”Our group is very pleased with this acquisition, as The Capital Hotel Group headed by David Levin, shares the same hospitality philosophy as Warwick,” said Richard Chiu, president of Warwick. “Being a family business ourselves, we are proud to be able to conclude this transaction with the Levin family and to maintain the family spirit that characterises the two groups.”
