The St. Regis Deer Valley appoints general manager

US: The five-star resort located in Utah’s Deer Valley has announced Richard Wales as general manager, effective 2 December 2019.

With more than 17 years’ experience in the luxury hospitality sector, Wales’ new role will involve overseeing all hotel operations for The St. Regis Deer Valley.

Wales comes to the position from 1 Hotels in Miami Beach, where he helped the hotel achieve a Forbes Travel Guide four-star rating. Currently ranked as the number one hotel in Miami on TripAdvisor, Wales also helped the property achieve the highest revenue, gross operating profit, and net operating profit in the hotels history.

Other positions Wales has held includes director of operations for Claremont Club & Spa in Berkeley, California, and nearly six years in leadership roles at The St. Regis Aspen Resort where he served as director of rooms and director of operations.

Commenting on his appointment, Wales said: “The St. Regis brand is the exemplar of luxury and service worldwide. The St. Regis Deer Valley spans 12 acres and features 174 guest rooms, multiple dining outlets, the acclaimed St. Regis bar, a 14,000 square-foot spa with heated pools, a ski “beach” and the only funicular at North American resort.

Of the total rooms, 68 are hotel condominiums and 25 are grand private residences. Deer Crest Associates LLC and Falcon SRDV Investors are joint owners of the residences.
