Spain: Club Metrópolis, the boutique hotel and private members’ club, has opened in the centre of Madrid.
Located at the intersection of Gran Vía and Calle de Alcalá, Club Metrópolis has been conceived by Spanish restaurateurs Marta Seco and Sandro Silva of Grupo Paraguas.
In 2019, Seco and Silva were invited by the building’s owner to open a standalone restaurant on the ground floor. The duo saw potential to revive the entire seven-story site, with years of renovation work then led by Rubio Arquitectura and interiors by Lázaro Rosa-Violán.
Spanning more than 6,000 square metres, Club Metrópolis now offers a 19-room hotel, private members’ club, seven dining rooms, and wellness facilities.
Hotel accommodation is divided into 16 rooms and three suites. Located on the third and fourth floors, the drum-shaped Circular Suites provide guests with 360-degree views of Madrid.
Guests are not required to be club members to stay at the hotel, though are granted full access to the club’s restaurants, cultural programming and amenities during their stay.
Three of the F&B venues are open to the public: lobster restaurant Spa de Langostas, Spanish restaurant Tasca Fina, and seafood restaurant Barra de Oricios. The remaining four are reserved for members and hotel guests: the fine-dining Victoria room, all-day La Galería, open-fire kitchen El Jardín, and cocktail venue La Cúpula.
