Ecuador: The Pikaia Lodge, which opens in June 2013, will be a sustainable boutique property in the Galapagos Islands.

Part of the Mantis Collection, the property has 12 rooms and two suites and will offer guests three-, four- or seven-night exploration packages, which combine exploring the islands on foot and on board the 100ft luxury yacht Pikaia I.

All rooms enjoy unobstructed views of the ocean from the main building’s position on a small plateau on top of two extinct volcano craters.

The lodge has been designed to minimise its ecological impact – it is powered by a mix of bio fuel, wind generators and solar panels, while the materials used in its construction have been mainly locally sourced and are recyclable. Filtered rainwater will also be used wherever possible.

Mantis is a family run, private collection of privately owned, five star properties located around the World.
