US: The Vogue Hotel on LA’s Spring Street is undergoing a refurbishment and will target the fashion industry when it reopens.
The three storey property is currently being renovated and will be converted into a 14-room hotel that according to commercial agent Lorena Tomb of BRC will be “geared toward those involved in the fashion industry, such as buyers and vendors who frequent the Fashion District’s large-scale showrooms”
Rooms will be approximately 280 square feet with rates starting at around $100 a night. There will also be a small cafe in the lobby and a 1,000 square feet restaurant when the property opens in 2013.
According to Brigham Yen of local website DTLA Rising: “The block along Spring Street between 8th and 9th has been experiencing an amazing revitalization turning what was once an empty and forlorn stretch of ‘nothingness’ into what will be the next hottest spot in Downtown LA. Just last month, the new English gastropub Parish opened to great reception replacing the former Angelique Cafe on the 9th St end, and three other restaurants (Terroni, Crane, and Peking Tavern) are all opening soon at the NCT Lofts on the 8th St end. Now word comes that the current vacant Vogue Hotel – sandwiched between Terroni and Parish along Spring – is coming back as a revamped boutique hotel.”
