Canada: Tidan Hospitality and Real Estate Group has announced plans to convert Montreal’s historic Mount Stephen Club into a high-end boutique hotel project.
The former residence of Canada Pacific Railway founding president George Stephen closed as a private club in December 2011. It will serve as the front entrance of a new 11-storey 80-room hotel to be built on the rear parking lot of the downtown site.
Tidan is applying for to project permits from the city of Montreal. It owns 60 properties in the United States and Canada, and acquired the Mount Stephen Club in 2006 for CAN$4 million.
