It has become relatively commonplace recently to meet hoteliers who have adapted their property and grown their offering to cater for a customer who demands a strong focus on wellness during their stay.
Exercise classes, spas, massage and pilates are all popular but it is the explosive growth in the popularity of yoga which is having a major impact.
This is especially true in the case of Kosta Miachin, the founder of Vikasa Yoga. He has become a hotelier almost by default, as a result of the popularity of his residential classes for yoga teachers in Koh Samui, Thailand.
BHN’s Piers Brown met Miachin at the recent HICAP conference in Hong Kong and was intrigued by his story. From having to develop accommodation at his yoga studio, Miachin now plans to roll out Vikasa as a global wellness-focused hospitality brand. From relatively humble beginnings, he has big dreams, and we wish him all the best.
