Qatar: A wave of new boutique hotel openings has enlivened the fine-dining scene in Doha.
Between them, the hotels will bring 12 new restaurants to Doha’s Souq Waqif area. Most of the alcohol-free restaurants have opened within the last six months in the area, housed within four new boutique hotels, owned by Qatar‘s Al Rayyan Hospitality. They include a fine-dining outlet, a family restaurant and a rooftop tandoor grill featuring live cooking stations
The company is set to launch two more hotels before the end of the year – this month will see the opening of Al Jasra hotel, which will feature an international buffet restaurant and an authentic Moroccan restaurant.
“We will have the only authentic Moroccan restaurant in Doha. Some are nice but not authentic because the catering and cooking is not done by Moroccans. We’ve got a Moroccan executive chef running the restaurant and Moroccan staff serving,” said Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels director of sales and marketing Russel Loughland.
Hot on its heels will be the launch of the 28-key Al Bidda hotel in quarter four. It will feature a rooftop terrace, live entertainment and a bakery.
Loughland said the group expects between 50 and 60 per cent of the hotels’ revenue to come from F&B.
