Switzerland: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened the 123-room W Verbier, the brand’s first ski resort property.
W Verbier, and the adjacent 15 Residences at W Verbier, are owned by Swiss-based Les Trois Rocs and are situated next to the main Médran gonzola, at the foot of the Verbier ski slopes.
Designers Concrete Architectural Associates drew inspiration “from the way a ski carves through snow” in designing in creating the hotel, which occupies four wooden chalet-style buildings connected by a glass atrium.
All guestrooms and suites include a fireplace and a balcony with mountain views and the properties offer ski-in, ski-out access.
Two Michelin-starred chef Sergi Arola oversees the hotel’s Restaurant Arola. Its menus “blend Swiss produce and Arola’s own Catalan roots”.
Other features include the Carve bar, with DJs and cocktails., the W Cafe, a fitness facility, three W Studios for events, and an Away Spa with nine treatment rooms, a sauna, a hammam, a whirlpool, and an indoor/outdoor pool deck with a bar.
