UK: Riverside farm and hotel Tewinbury has expanded its offering with the acquisition of Hertford House Hotel and The Quiet Man public house in the centre of Hertford.
Tewinbury has been the family home of the Williams since 1931. Originally a dairy farm, the site has evolved over three generations to incorporate hospitality.
The purchase of Hertford House and The Quiet Man Pub expands Tewinbury’s offerings into the city centre. All jobs will be protected in the acquisition.
Hertford House, set across two Georgian townhouses, provides 28 bedrooms along with a restaurant and bar. The team also plans to keep The Quiet Man pub independent, with seasonal produce from the farm shaping the menus at both venues.
Both sites will remain open during the transition. The immediate focus will be on supporting staff, enhancing menus, and creating seasonal events including festive celebrations later this year.
The Williams family said: “Our vision is to bring the farm to Hertford. This means seasonal food made with produce from our land, spaces where people feel connected, and a focus on independence and community. We are committed to keeping The Quiet Man a proper pub that Hertford can be proud of, while ensuring Hertford House becomes a welcoming place for both locals and guests of Tewinbury. This is a new chapter for our family farm, and we are excited to share it with the town we grew up in.”
