Singapore: Heritage boutique hotel 21 Carpenter is due to open its doors in late Q4 2023, located between Clarke Quay and Chinatown.
The 48-room property has been developed by 8M Real Estate. Housed in the former Remittance House (Chye Hua Seng Wee Kee), architecture firm WOHA led the restoration and transformation of the building.
Accommodation is divided between two wings – The Heritage Wing with 26 rooms and a five-storey extension The Urban Wing with 22 rooms. Local artwork curated by The Artling is featured throughout.
Amenities include a rooftop infinity pool, a garden terrace on the third level, and an independent bistro and bar led by Michelin-starred chef Andrew Walsh as culinary director. The F&B venue is scheduled to open in Q1 next year.
“As the only heritage hotel debuting in Singapore this year, 21 Carpenter is more than just a place to stay; it is a place to experience Singapore’s true history and past, while creating new stories for the future,” said Tarun Kalra, general manager of 21 Carpenter. “The team and I are excited to define hospitality through our thoughtfully considered service touches, offering guests an experience that encapsulates the very essence of our brand and its charm. During their time with us, we hope guests enjoy an immersive cultural experience that will leave a lasting impression.”
Richard Hassell, founding director of WOHA, added: “In the creation and design of 21 Carpenter, we wanted to honour the rich history of the heritage structure. Every detail has been thoughtfully crafted, with key parts of the design reflecting the historic building’s aesthetics and storied past.”
21 Carpenter is a member of Design Hotels under Marriott.
