UK: In London’s Mayfair, The Beaumont has reopened following a soft refurbishment of several public and guest spaces, with guest room and public area extension due for completion in 2023.
ReardonSmith, the original architects of the hotel which opened in 2014, is collaborating with New York-based designer, Thierry Despont.
In the lobby, a timber panelled portal has been introduced which will eventually offer entry into the new extension. The Le Magritte Bar has also been repositioned and extended, now accessed from the far end of the main reception area.
Inspired by 1920s American bars, Le Magritte Bar (previously a guest-only lounge) is now a 30-seater public venue with an outdoor terrace. Housed in its former place is Gatsby’s Room – a new offering from The Beaumont. It will serve afternoon teas and evening drinks.
At The Colony Grill, a new sommelier station has been introduced along with new artworks and murals.
Over in the spa, the gym has been enlarged and a third treatment room has been added. Two of the guest rooms so far have been converted into the Mayfair Suite and a third room upgraded to a Superior Room.
James Twomey, director of ReardonSmith Architects, said: “The reconfiguration and redesign work to date is an exciting first phase in the plan that we have agreed with our client, Beaumont Hotel Property Ltd, to ‘revive the legend’ of The Beaumont hotel. It is a sensitive continuum of the hotel’s spirit and all changes, both front and back-of-house, have been made to support the staff in a hotel that is recognised for its outstanding service.”
