Brazilian boutique hotel and spa set for November opening

Brazil: The Botanique Hotel & Spa, set on a 700 acre site in the Campos do Jordão mountains, is due to open in November 2012.

The property will feature 11 private villas and six suites, as well as what is described as the first 100 per cent Brazilian spa in the country, a restaurant, private movie theatre, stables with Olympic standard horses, library and cookery school.

The resort is the vision of Brazilian entrepreneur Ricardo Semler, and has been designed “to showcase showcase the best of Brazil with indigenous design, furnishings, culture, cuisine, and experiences”.

The architectural design incorporates huge river stone boulders, and walls of glass and exposed steel which offer expansive views. Semler has commissioned furniture and pieces from emerging and established Brazilian artists and designers for the interiors.

Each villa at the property has a large private garden measuring, while the suites are located in the main building around the spa and Mina restaurant. Daily room rates include food, Brazilian wines and wine tastings, minibar, beverages, all activities and experiences, gratuities and laundry.

The 10,000 square foot Spa at Botanique is an all-Brazilian spa with “signature treatments encompassing ancient native healing and relaxation rituals”. There will be eight specialised treatment spaces and relaxation suites as well as an indoor pool and dry and wet saunas.

Located two hours drive north of São Paulo and three hours from Rio, Campos do Jordão is in the green peaks of the Mantiqueira Mountains. It is Brazil’s highest town and a popular weekend destination of for São Paulo residents.

Owner Ricardo Semler said: “We are introducing a new concept of contemporary Brazilian hospitality, rescuing the authenticity of old Campos do Jordão, which was an anchor for spiritual retreats, and combining with a top-of-the-line-luxury feel.”
