US: Developers Earl Ketry and Rocco Termini are converting the Webb Lofts building in downtown Buffalo to a 32-room boutique hotel.

Ketry, the owner of the Pearl Street Grill in the city, is teaming up with building owner Rocco Termini to convert the 32-apartment scheme to a boutique hotel called Lofts on Pearl. Ketry already operates Pearl@The Webb, a banquet facility on the Webb’s first floor, as well as the 57-room Hotel@Lafayette.

The $11 million, 32-unit Webb Lofts project, set in the 1888 Richardson Romanesque J.A. Webb Building, was completed in 2007.  Local commentators have attributed the conversion to a softening of the downtown Buffalo residential market, and Ketry says he has had a large volume of enquiries about boutique accommodation from diners at Pearl.

The hotel conversion is set for completion by mid-September.
