Iceland: Urban capsule hotel brand CityHub will open its fourth property in Reykjavik this summer, adding to its locations in Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Rotterdam.

CityHub Reykjavik will be located in Hverfisgata, close to Laugavegur in downtown Reykjavik.

Developed by Thingvangur with interiors led by HAF Studio, the property has been converted from an existing building. Repurposing sites enable CityHub to more than double the number of rooms per square metre, and helps to reduce a guest’s carbon footprint by 65 per cent.

It will offer 89 Hubs and four accessible rooms, as well as a communal social area. Guests will be supported by a team of ‘CityHosts’ to assist with any plans during their stay.

Sem Schuurkes, founder of CityHub, said: “As a city known for its pioneering design and hospitality excellence, Reykjavik seamlessly fits our expanding portfolio and represents an important milestone in the growth of CityHub.

“Iceland is breathtaking and on so many travel bucket lists, but it does have a reputation for sometimes being an expensive place to visit. CityHub is determined to break down these barriers and prove that such destinations can be affordable without compromising on comfort and amenities.

“As Northern Europe becomes the latest holiday hotspot for the travel industry, we want to cater towards a new generation of travellers who are looking for affordable city escapes and connect them with a global community of like-minded and tech-savvy people wanting to explore the world without the hefty price tag,” he added.

Pálmar Harðarson, owner of Thingvangur, said: “We are proud to collaborate with CityHub on the development of CityHub Reykjavik. We have a shared commitment to enhancing urban landscapes in a sustainable way and this new hotel will provide a completely new way for people to experience Reykjavik. We are excited to bring CityHub Reykjavik to life and provide visitors with a modern, authentic and eco-friendly new accommodation offering in this dynamic city.”
