Caribbean: Following the destruction of Hurricane Irma, Eden Rock in St Barths has reopened with three new suites and a spa experience.
The hotel, owned by Jane and David Matthews (Pippa Middleton’s in-laws), is located on the beach in St Jean Bay.
The property is a member of the Oetker Collection – a group of luxury and elite hotels that was created in 2008 under the leadership of Frank Marrenbach.
All of the rooms and villas at the property have undergone a complete redesign. Three sea-view rooms have been added to the hotel, named Tristan, Arthur and Theodore, along with three new suites – two of which come with private swimming pools – on the Rock.
The rebuilt hotel, with a total of 37 rooms, spotlights a new Sand Bar restaurant by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, as well as a new Remy Bar designed by Swedish interior designer, Martin Brudnikzi.
General manager, Fabrice Moizan, said: “The remaking of Eden Rock – St Barths has been an incredible adventure and a wonderfully rewarding experience on so many levels. It really was a team effort and we are immensely grateful to our brilliant group of collaborators and colleagues who worked with us endlessly to reach this milestone. We also thank our shareholders for this fantastic opportunity to rethink and redesign every detail in order to create a brand-new Eden Rock, but with the same deep-set values and attention paid to honouring our heritage”.
The hotel’s Eden Spa will be set on top of the Rock, designed with a ‘yacht-on-land’ themed lounge and three wellness cabins. Services include beachside treatments (as well as child-friendly ones), a frosé trolley, professional sunscreen attendants and access to a new nature lagoon.
Co-owner, Jane Matthews, added: “Our family has chosen the option to remake or restore pretty much everything in all parts of Eden Rock – St Barths. We continue to fix our sights on being world class and remaining there. In this ambition, we are so thankful to belong on this fantastic island. There is nowhere like it in the world”.
