UK: Five-star country house Ellenborough Park Hotel has completed the refurbishment of all 61 bedrooms as well as the Horse Box brasserie.
The 15th century country estate and spa is set on 90 acres of parkland close to Cheltenham Racecourse. The refurbishments were completed ahead of the Cheltenham Festival which took place last week.
Ilza Reinke oversaw the interiors of all 61 bedrooms. Due to the historic nature of the building, the rooms are different shapes and sizes and therefore individually designed. She sought to reuse as much of the existing materials as possible.
Reinke said of the project: “[It] required much careful thought and consideration to capture the history and elegance of the building, ensuring that it reflects the same grandeur in these modern times.”
The Horse Box brasserie – one of five dining venues at the hotel – has also undergone a complete revamp. The casual restaurant and bar is open during the afternoons and serves a seasonal lunch and dinner menu of traditional British dishes.
General Manager of Ellenborough Park Hotel, Marwan Hemchaoui, said: “Planning this project began long before the pandemic, so it feels even more special to fulfil now. We are very proud of Ellenborough’s growth over the past few years, and these new bedrooms are a fitting celebration of our ten-year anniversary.”
