Finland: Marking the first hotel in Finland under Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection, the Hotel Maria is due to reopen this winter following a €62 million redevelopment.
Earlier this year, Cheyne Capital provided a €62 million loan to Samla Capital to fund the redevelopment of Hotel Maria.
It will soon open on 15 December this year offering 117 rooms including 38 suites, two restaurants and a bar, a ballroom, chapel, and spa and wellness facilities.
Set across four buildings built between 1885 and 1930, guest rooms feature custom furnishings from American luxury furniture specialist RH. The bathrooms come equipped with walk-in showers, a bath tub, gas fireplace and a television, with some suites providing a Finnish sauna and/or steam room.
The hotel’s spa also features a Finnish sauna, a steam, cold and warm water plunge pools, a jacuzzi, four treatment rooms, and a bar. The Wellness Club will open in spring 2024 as a fitness space.
Additional services include a private butler services, dog and babysitting, personal shoppers, as well as an Experience Manager to curate and deliver excursions in Finland.
The Garden Terrace will serve Nordic and international cuisine whilst the main restaurant Lilja will provide a French menu. The Valley private dining room is available for up to 12 people. Cocktails, champagne and caviar will be served at Bar Maria.
Plans for the redevelopment also included sustainable features such as energy-efficient lighting, indoor climate control, and renewable energy sources. A recycling program and local partnerships also form part of the hotel’s operation.
