Hotel St. George opens in Helsinki

Finland: The 153-room Hotel St. George has recently opened in the Finnish capital.

Housed in a former newspaper printing factory that was designed by Onni Tarjanne and completed in 1840, the seven-storey building – also once home to the Finnish Literature Society – has been converted and connected to an adjacent five-storey structure, which together encompass three food and drink outlets, a modern spa, a series of individually decorated rooms and suites, and several public spaces.

The property, a member of Design Hotels, also features an art collection of 300 pieces that includes a sculpture by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei manifests in the form of over 300 pieces of art displayed throughout the property.

The 148 guestrooms and five suites span six categories feature a palette of soft mint green, pearl grey, and delicate browns.
